I recently posted an item on ebay, it was quite heavy, so I wanted to mark it as 'local pick-up only'.
However, I was not able to list it until I had stated which carrier service I was using, so I put Royal Mail Parcels, but with no postage cost.
It was listed as 'free postage', so I have had to email each bidder, making sure they know it is for pick-up only.
I have seen items listed as 'local pick-up only' so I wonder how they manage this?

The rules seem to have changed so that, from 29 January this year, it's not been possible to specify 'buyer collects' (or similar):

Reading the information, on that page, under 'Are there any exemptions?' suggests that the best you can do (to indicate 'buyer collects') is to select �Courier : Heavy and bulky items� from the drop-down menu and then use the item description to make it clear that you'll only sell to a buyer who arranges collection.

Thanks Chris, what I in fact did was put in bold type that despite the 'free postage' listing it was for local collection only, but I still sent each bidder an email to confirm that they knew it couldn't be posted.
