Backstage Passes

I know this might sound like a dumb question but is there anywhere you can get hold of a backstage pass to meet the artist at a concert or get into the VIP bar? I want to try and arrange it for my mum as her Christmas pressie as she loves Simply Red and we're going to see him next week in concert. I've been to a gig before that was at the Docklands arena and some guys that were journalists or something sold my friend their passes as they were going home early and we all got to go to the bar backstage get free drinks and meet the artists on that night. If anyone has any info pls let me know. Thank you.

Passes are given out in advance on the basis of who needs them. Thus - crew and band have them for al areas, press sometimes get them, but often just passes to the show, maybe back stage after, and 'VIP's' - guests of the band or record comapny get them for the show itself.

It's impossible for the public to get backstage passes - anyone seeling or giving them away risks getting banned from future events.

As a working writer, I have to apply in advance for a pass, and confirm the magazine I am working for - and they always check!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that's the reality.
