I've managed to get chewing gum on a car seat. Any suggestions on how to remove it gratefully received (I've tried rubbing with ice cube (well frozen sausages really) and scraping with a knife. Got most of it off but not all.. Thanks

Cheers Boo, the neighbors already think I'm mad - don't think I've helped my cause!
Buy a can of gas, spray closely and quickly for a while to freeze the blob, then smash with a hammer. Bit of luck it should shatter, then just clan off the shards.

Needless to say, don't smoke while doing it.

Dunno about a car seat, but this has worked on a carpet.

Alternatively, DIY stores do a range of sticky stuff removers.
You could try a bag of frozen peas on top of the chewing gum. When it has hardened scrap off. You may have to do this a few times as it will only harden the top layer of chewing gum.
I don't know if this would work but.......... cover the gum with a piece of old linen-type cloth (non-woolly?), iron it with a warm electric iron. When the gum softens it should stick to the cloth and a thin film of it can then be removed with the cloth. Repeat the process with a fresh piece of cloth.
Best of luck. .......... but don't blame me if it doesn't work.
