St George is also the patron saint of Aragon, Catalonia, England, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, and Russia. I don't know why England can't find a saint of its own, but I suppose it helps to celebrate the fact that England is part of Europe.
