My husband has just got a new laptop with Vista installed on it.
This morning we had somebody come to set up the e-mail for us.He asked if we needed the password but seeing as my husband will be the only one using it we said we did not and he said he would delete that facility. We have turned it on an off since he left and it was ok.However,my husband has just installed some software for his camera and the box asking for his password appeared. When he put his password in a message saying "user profile service failed the log-on - user profile cannot be loaded"
Every time we insert the password we get this message and so we cannot open the Windows.Any help please ?

Done that - no good
Press delete at start up and you will get a BIOS screen.

If you work your way through that you should find a password section where you can put in your password.
^ do not do that...

That is the BIOS password, nothing at all to do with windows! and depending on the model of computer if you set that password and forget it you may as well chuck your computer in the bin.
have you tried just hitting enter ?

what "window" is asking for a password?
is it uac

Thank you all very much - in the end we decided it would be best if we "got a man in ".He solved the problem and said he thought that something was "corrupted" - fingers crossed from now on !!!

Thanks again
