When does a warranty start from??
6 Answers
I am purchasing a fridge and oven for our new kitchen. I have got a great deal - but cannot take delivery of the items now. If I pay for them now and the supplier has agreed to hold stock and delay delivery til we are ready. From what date would the warranty start??
If I pay now and dont accept delivery for 6 months - will I have just 6 months left of a 12 month warranty or will the warranty start from delivery?
Thanks

You could argue that a warranty should start from first use. If you could prove you hadn't installed or used it before a later date, a considerate company might accept your argument. After all, if there were something wrong, how else would you know until you'd come to use it.?
I purchased a number of white goods for my kitchen two years ago, due to various hold ups in the fitting of the units it was three months before the appliances were installed. When I telephoned to register the guarantees with the manufacturer they would only accept the purchase date. Perhaps you could ring the supplier and ask where you stand, as by law they must guarantee your purchase for the first twelve months anyway ,so when would they consider the start date.
