im growing some for the first time any tips to make sure they grow healthy they have leaves on them but no signs of any caulis as yet

Even if they're advertised as self-blanching, be sure to tie the tops over the heads as soon as the leaves are long enough. Otherwise you'll wind up with unappetizing brownish stains on the heads. Keep an eye out for little green worms and dust for them fairly often. Lots of water and a good mulch of newsprint around the base will keep them happy...

I was getting a bit worried about mine as well....huge leaves but no sign of the cauli itself yet.
