Glasgow Central Station
Does anyone know if tickets at Glasgow Central Station can be purchased from a person at a ticket office, or is it all the automatic ticket machines. My husband is travelling from Glasgow to Ballock. He is a pensioner and he hates the automatic ticket machines. Any help appreciated. Thanks

If, as Musgroom25 suggests, Queen Street would be better, their ticket office is open 05:00-23:55 (Mon-Sat) & 07:10-23:55 (Sun):

Thank you to everyone who took the time and trouble to answer. Very much appreciated. It is nice to be able to ask questions and get such friendly helpful answers. Glad to hear there is a ticket office at the Glasgow stations - my poor old man had a terrible time on the London underground with the automatic ticket dispensers!! And thanks for the useful information about changing if travelling from Central. Now that he knows that, he will go from Queen Street, I think. He is travelling on his own from Belfast to Stranraer, and then to Balloch where our daughter will meet him (she's over in Scotland on holiday at Loch Lomond so she doesn't know much about the trains either). He is just a tad apprehensive about it all, and we are trying to work out his journey.
Thanks again to everyone.
Thanks again to everyone.
I'm pretty sure the train from Stranraer goes to Glasgow Central Station. Your Dad would have to get to Queen Street to continue his journey. It is not a long walk, but it depends on your level of fitness and how much you are carrying. There are usually plenty of taxis. Not sure about buses. I am sure, though, that he could buy a ticket at Stranraer that would take him through to Balloch.
It would be cheaper to get the tickets online and delivered to you than paying for them at the station, specially if you can buy them in advance.
