Victorian plum tree
I love these plums and am thinking to plant one tree in my back garden. Any idea what time of the year is suitable for that and if they need too much care etc?

I would wait until early autumn and then plant. Check that the root stock of your plant is a dwarf one. Your local nursery will advise on that. As Victoria is a self fertile variety you will not need to worry about pollinators. I grow this and the plums taste even better from the tree than the shop!You will soon be enjoying your crop.
Any nurseryman will tell you that it is best to plant bare rooted fruit trees between November and March. You will find that you need to wait until November for the nurseries to have them ready for you. You could prepare the ground several weeks before hand.
They need a few feet of soil around them and garden compost plus bone meal at their base. If in a windy spot, a stake is advisable while it establishes its roots. During their first year watering is advisable during dry periods.
Victorias are self fertilising so you don't need to have other plums around. Also - Make sure you have the correct root stock for your size garden.
