screen resolution on PC monitor

My old monitor finally gave up today - ahhhhh!!

I am using a TFT LCD TV instead and all seems okay except for:

Size of screen when on internet. The desktop is okay I have managed to change the resolution on that but the internet is smaller.

How can I make it, in effect, widescreen?

hold down CTRL and roll your mouse wheel back and forth when looking at a internet page (or hold down CTRL and use + and - if you have no mouse wheel)
