New standard bike licence riding 600cc

Whats the position with using a 600cc m'bike on a new standard licence. I have had the licence for 1 year and I believe you have to wait 2 years to drive a large engine bike. I have tax, insurance and mot all ok. I am unsure if it's worth risking riding a 600. Do police actually understand the bike licencing system? Also a ANPR camera will show me as having a full A category licence; I don't think an ANPR will check vehicle against licence type. Any ideas

it shoukd tell you on ure paper part of ure license, and the police can also tell how long ure license has been issued, so yes if you get caught its just like getting done with no insurance, because ure policy is void if uve not held it long enough..... its crap, but thats the law.

if uve naw held the license for the correct period of time req to ride this bike,then ure insurance policy is invalid,

But ureinsurance company should be able to help you oot with the info u req,

It's not the engine size that matters it's the horse power.

Most 600 are able to be restricted to the rqd 33bhp with the fitting of a simple restrictor kit, you won't notice a huge difference when riding unless you are hooning it everywhere.

The problem is, to get insurane you have to have the kit fitted professionaly and provide a certificate to prove it's restricted. This can cost as much as �200 although the part itself is only a few pounds from the parts dpt!!!!

You can then remove the kit (usualy a clip on the throttle cable or washers on top of the carbs) when your two years are up.

All legal and legit, 600cc bike now!

If you remove the restrictor early the police probably won't notice but if you are in the position of making an insurance claim they may refuse to pay out.
