Name Game

OK....I already have my own pride and joy...(a 6 month old Corgi named Mazy)...but my boyfriend wants a German Shepard so bad he can hardly stand it!...I think he would get a male...what are some great names for this signifigant K-9?

A mate of mine had a German Shepherd dog and called it Mister Cox. Of course, it got called "Coxy!" when we liked it loads, and "COX!" when it was naughty.

when I was young I had a friend whose German Shepherd was called Zeus. another friend's german shepherd was called Prince.

My sister has bred GSDs.

They were girls and called Zeta, Inca and Sheba.

The males were Max, Rebel and Paramount (para for short)!

Whatever he decides please ensure you get one from a good breeder who will have registered them and will be able to give the hip scores of both parents which should be an indication of the hip scores of the off spring.

Mine is called Jake. Ben is a good name. Your friend's dog will have a very posh (usually unpronouncable) Kennel Club name too and you can sometimes use part of that and add a bit to it to make a unique name.

If there's anything I know how to research, it's dogs! I did about two/three years of reading, background checking and searching before I got my Corgi...so I am going to commit some time to the German Shepherd puppy as well...it will be quite a while before we can get one for sure...but thank you all for your name suggestions and info...

So far, I like Zeus and Jake (which is hilarious because it's actually my brothers' name)

Max... Rex... Rebel... Brutus... Devil...  The biggest and most glorious German Shepherd I ever remember seeing (but I was very young at the time..  :o)  brought round by a window-cleaner, was called .. Gnome...!!

My GS is called Shane.Mind you this was his name when we rescued him.We didn't want to confuse him and change it as he was 18 months old then.So we call him Shaney.He is now 10 and an lovely old boy.Hence my username!
