Equally as girls mature emotionally quicker than boys often they dont have the emotional intelligence to process what has occured
single parents no absent parents is open to a lot of interpretation absent as in not living?? no contact?? both parents absent, physical or emotional absence. Yes emotional absence of a parent can lead a child to be more vulnerable to both abuse and abusing due to lack of adequate boundaries, emotional release and unconditional love along with a sense of security and safety
Pink...that can't POSSIBLY apply to ALL single parent families. Stability comes in many forms,,,and while the trasditional family unit is 'best'......surely when there is no longer love between two people...and children SENSE that,,,then to be in th ecare of one is best. Frequently the parents get on BETTER after the marriage ends.....
I know of several examples.......and the children adore the absent parent

single parents not too blame in general as long as they are responsible caring parent.
absent parent what do you mean. ??? absent parent could be absent from the daily living of a child. Absent by having no contact at all or emotionally absent meaning the childs emortional needs are not met by their parent as there parent lacks the capacity.
Being an absent parent in itself is not a problem however emotional absence can place children at risk.

the reality is that children that abuse come from all classes of life and vary from two to single parents. The key is the style of parenting whether by one or two parents or grandparents. Children need to grow up in an environment where they feel safe , where they know and have boundaries, and where they feel loved and secure. Generally these children have higher self esteem, higher social skills, and better coping capaacitys to deal with lifes ups and downs,
Statistically, I don't know what the ratio of abuse of children from single parents, to children from a two-parent family is?
I think lack of care, love, support and encouragement are possibly contributory factors to some children ending up as abusers themselves - merely because they see it as a form of showing affection. This's obviously misguided, but could provide one of the answers.
I have interaction with single parents in my daily life though, and can honestly say, hand on heart, that they do a fine job of raising their kids single-handedly, but lack of education and understanding can make some parents incapable of teaching their children right from wrong, and this probably accounts for why they can't stop cycles of abuse.
