I have almost completed this puzzle with much difficulty. I have the theme and the three unclued grid entries relating to Mickey Mouse, but a bit stuck on the other four that were "deleted"; by "The Editor". I cannot find anywhere words that will fit in with the letters I have. These four are the only ones I need. Any ideas how I can go about it. Do these four words have a connection?

Yes, they do. 1dn, 8dn, 9dn and 40ac have all been victims of a "x x x x x x x x" (eight letter word) by Mickey, which you should have highlighted in the grid (across, just over halfway down) . That's why you can't find words that will fit, but slight (and common but erroneous) adjustments should give you them.

Yes, I already have the eight letter word. But in the introduction, it states the four words should be real words. Does it mean then that some of the letters I already have should be altered? How can they be if they cross with legitimate answers that are not of the four I need. The only spaces I have left are all barred off. Perhaps it means I should just misspell(!!!) the words

You can't complete the puzzle if any of the words in your grid are not really words. Your changes have to make everything correct - this is where the "few as possible" requirement bites!

Thank you both. I am sure I've got it now. Thank goodness I photocopied the grid first before messing it up. I always photocopy grid for the Inquisitor. It lets me down too often otherwise. Thanks again.
