The noise comes from the engine i think .
in this weather maybe it's the fan struggling......
could be any number of things, gearbox, clutch waterpump alternator, air con (if fitted) your best bet would be to pop it into a garage and ask them if they can have a look at it. Ask for a quote to put it right and they should tell you what they think it is.
My guess is it could be a bearing water pump. Does it go up and down with engine revs or is it constant, could even be a wheel bearing....

guessing isn't good

Run the engine at tickover, open the bonnet, and listen, carefully and close up. It could be something really simple like the fanblades catching on something. If you approach the problem in stages you will be able to narrow it down before approaching garages, which can cost a fortune.

Hi Pete Hull , it is definately not the wheel bearing i know that sound and yes it does go up and down with the revs.
could be the cam belt tensioner or the belt to tight
these vehicles were renowned for diff bearing problems
Alternator!!
I had something like this it was a leaf in the blower system. Turn blower off when engine running to confirm
