All the hotels are quite basic, but Hotel Roma in Esmeraldas on the Pacific Coast of Ecuador, has good rooms with private baths, fans and a TV. It is situated on Olmedo and very central (Tel: Esmeraldas 710136). The coastal region is very hot and wet from January to May, and more bearable for the rest of the year - but it really depends how hot you like it.
