i have 28k outstanding to creditors, ijhave been running and avoiding the issue as i have hadnt the strength to deal with the the fact i havent the money to pay them.
without going to any agency or anytjhing can i ask them to atleast freeze my interest and late payment charges and then offer to pay them.
or if i ask them to pay off th ewhole amount with they do a deal with me(borrowing money of freinds and family).

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.When you ask whether they would do a deal with you, are you hoping they might say they'll accept perhaps �20000 instead of �28000, because I'm sure the answer is no. If it was made that easy lots of people would try it. I also can't see them agreeing straight away to freeze interest for the same reason.

I don't think borrowing �28K from friends and family is the answer here. If you can't afford to pay off your creditors, you can't afford to pay back friends and family either, and in my experience, many people who borrow from family/friends end up welshing on their debts which is not a very honourable way of behaving and can leave lasting damage to relationships.
I think you need to bite the bullet and get advice from the Citizens Advice Bureau or a free Debt Counselling Service like the Consumer Credit Counselling Service. (http://www.cccs.co.uk/). They deal with cases like yours all the time so will be in the best position to help you negotiate your way out of this difficult situation.
It may well be that bankruptcy might be the best answer for you. You can also find advice from Moneysavingexport.com where there is a special Debt section on their forum if you register.
