just lateley when starting my computer,it has been taking ages,it makes clicking noises,then eventually empty black boxes appear,and when i,ve got rid of all those,my computer will start up.i,ve just discovered that in the start menu if i go to startup,it is full of exe files, eg 3f2c9 exe.ther are thousands of these.apparently its these that are affecting my computer starting up.anyone any ideas what they are,and how do i get rid of them..thanx in advance.

the clicky noise could well be your hard disc dying
the files could be something nasty ... or just corrupt files
I'm guessing that as you can see the files ... windows does eventually start.

it's a bit of devil and deep blue sea
just proving it could kill it.

backup anything you can gat at (if there's anything you want to get at)


then ... open my computer
right click C: | properties | tools | error checking
test the disc

alternatively - open a command prompt .. type chkdsk /f

come back with the result
