3 Answers
we are considering a roun d uk cruise in 2010 to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday. I am in a wheelchair and we wouls not be disembarking at ports as I am in a wheelchair and pushing me is difficult. Money is tight so we have to budget very carefully. Can anyone give us some tried and tested info. Many thanks in advance

I am disabled but not yet in a wheelchair and have done lots of cruising and can strongly recommend MSC cruises for their disabled passenger policy staff always on hand to help with embarking and disembarking also priority given at both these times. going ashore shouldn't be too difficult if you choose this type of cruise line as they use an easier to negotiate gangway for disabled passengers. MSC are cheaper than a lot of cruise lines but I have benn told that Fred Olsen are also very good value and disabled friendly. Good Luck and give it a try it really doesn't work out much more expensive than other holidays when you add up the costs of meals tea coffee entertainment etc.
thankyou mrsann for the info. the problem with my husband pushing my wheelchair, is that although he has had both knee joints replaced, he still has great difficulty walking. We cannot afford a motorised wheelchair for me, thank goodness for motobility for my car, otherwise4 we4 would be housebound, We have saved for years for a cruise aqnd thought a round uk would be ideal as we should see quite a lot from the ship.please excuse the typing mistakes, I blame the arthritic fingers!
