North facing lounge
6 Answers
Fell in love with and bought a bungalow with a north facing lounge, everything else is perfect, so how do I bring warmth into this lounge now we have to decorate and re furnish. I was definitely behind the door when the interior design genes were given out !!!!!

A north-facing lounge implies a south-facing dining room? I have this situation too, so I use the dining room for most of the time, and move into a cosy warmly-lit lounge in the evenings.

It's not so much the choice of colour but the tone that's important - the dulux website gived you options to choose from that have warm tones - select your favourite colours but make sure they are warm tones and combine with rich warm fabrics - velvet and velour and chenille for curtains and cushions, sheepskin or wool rugs, warm wood tones e.g oak would be nice and not too dark, combined with warm neutral walls some rich patterned curtains in say cherry tones and lots of huggable cushions and you are on your way!

Thanks everyone for your imput. Sometimes you are so impressed by a property you don't realise the position of the rooms, but I feel much more confident now and will build on your suggestions, I really like the butter cream wall suggestion that sounds lovely, and will get the Dulux paint chart today.
Hi,
I have a north facing lounge and have used very similar ideas to Annie's. Lots of warm tones. Buttercream sounds good and is really nice is warmed up with reds and terracottas and warm browns. Pale gold and tones of red look absolutely lovely. Not too dark but very warm and cosy.
Avoid blues and most greens and don't go for neutrals.
