Hi - I'm on an Orange pay as you go phone...i buy £10 of credit every month and get £10 of calls, 300 free text messages and £4 of internet access. I sent a mate a text in France (she has a uk moby and number) and my credit remained the same (ie £10) but text allocation went down to 299. So it looks like i am not being charged for texting her - and it just comes out of my free text allocation.
I'm confused - surely it costs money to text to france - at least 20 / 30p but since i am not being charged, could this be because her moby is a uk one, and/or she is lumbered with the the cost of me texting her?
If you are texting her English moby, it should cost the same regardless of where the recipient of the message is. If you ring an English moby while the holder is in another country, you will only pay to the end of the UK, and the recipient will pay the remainder of the (exhorbitant) calling costs,
I've never paid to receive texts abroad, but have paid to receive calls. I no longer put credit on my English moby before I come out to Spain - I still receive texts, but calls go straight thru to voicemail.
