Smell of garlic!

Does anyone know how to get the smell of garlic off of your hands?? I chopped some up on Saturday and I can still smell it on my hands!!!

In most good kitchen shops you can buy a oval soap sized stainless steel "soap" for this purpose. But if you have a stainless steel sink you save yourself the money. I do it when I've cut chilli, garlic you name it....

The problem is the oil & smell from the garlic soaks into your skin the best way to avoid it is to rub a little bit of oil (olive or veg etc.) into the tips of your fingers prior to chopping Garlic (works with chilli etc. too) that way the smell stays on the oil, then you wash the oil off with normal soap etc.
And for future, if you have been chopping garlic or onions, don't rub your hands together under the water when you wash them. Just let the running water wash over your hands for a minute and then pat them dry. As previously said, rubbing them only releses more aroma. My old Catering college lecturer taught me that one...about the only thing I remembered lol |
