Programme 'Freeze-Up'.

I was unfortunate to have had my house struck by lighting and the downforce of electricity was responsible for rendering my computers beyond repair. ( Laptop and Desktop...along with Printer, Scanner, T.V., Radio, Extractor Fan, Light bulbs, etc.)

It is now the case that I have bought replacement items and, computerwise, have a set-up of a 'Dell..Studio Laptop and an H.P. all-in-one, Scanner/Copier/Printer.(Deskjet F2200)

My problem is that, having loaded my original disc for Corel's 'Word Perfect 2000' and an up-to-date version of 'Focus 30,000 Art Clips', there is a 'freeze-up' when I click the mouse for an 'Insert'. Consequently, I am no longer able to compile such things as Birthday/Christmas Cards,Posters etc....Copy/Paste only produces a Windows Paint icon in documentation.

The result is that, whilst I am able to access other programmes with a 'Frozen Page' it becomes necessary for me to Log-off or Shut-down to clear Word-Perfect's page and lose anything which I have compiled, prior to my attempt of an 'insertion' into the document concerned.

Any comments and/or advice from ABers would be very much appreciated.

Incidentally, my Laptop is operating on 'Windows..Vista Home Premium'.
