Just been on the news and it seems that almost all the artists who participated had seen their sales increase.

Why has Mr Geldof not lambasted them like he did the people who tried to sell tickets on ebay?

If there is an argument that the artists are going to give these extra profits to charity, then whose to say that the ebayers wouldn't have?

Just seems like double standards to me

Blimey, that opened up a can of worms

Its just Geldof that annoys me, I don't have a problem with anyone making money from anything, who does Geldof think he his telling people to sabotage auctions.

Also, he told people to decend on Edinburgh this week, look at all the riots that are happening now.  I'm not implying that it is all down to him, but why can't he be just as vocal against it?

At the risk of getting lynched, I had tickets and I sold them on ebay. And Iliken myself doing this to winning abottle of whisky in a school fete tombola. The money I paid for the whisky goes to charityas intended(but I don't like whisky) so I sell/give it to a mate.At the point I win it, it's *MY* whisky to do with as I please.I WON MY TICKETS FAIR & SQUARE!

Quote by fly258:Why did so many people text for tickets if they knew they couldn't or didn't want to go, if it wasn't to try and make a profit on Ebay?

A friend of mine txt for the tickets to see if she would be lucky to get them.At that point she  knew  she wouldn't be able to get the time off work but if she got the tickets she would just phone in sick.So she phoned in sick.

Clearly the marketing implications of live8 were not thought through.

For example, had ALL the tickets been sold via ebay directly by Geldof, he would have raised in excess of 20m (a conservative estimate). Which would have helped to alieviate the suffering of many thousands in Africa.

Admittedly the concert would then have only been attended by those people or organisations with deep pockets, a little unfair on the rest of us. But the fact that an opportunity to raise money for good causes was shamelessly wasted, is a little unfair on those people who will lose there lives without the aid this revenue could have provided.

I suspect the reason Bob was so upset is because the penny dropped a little to late!

Question for Flipflop - at the time you texted for your tickets did you know you wouldn't be able to attend the concert?
