Sqad that was not exactly the point I was trying to make. And its impossible to generalise by and large it is correct. Self defence will turn on the individual circumstances. For instance if an attacker broke in here and I was alone with the children and I delivered a good old thwack to the head and he retreats but heads towards one of the kids, I would be justified in pre-emptively delivering another blow with my trusty rolling pin. However, if he were legging it out of the door and I still had a go, I would rightly be bang to rights.
