speedo & rev counter

Help help my car  ( s reg vectra)rev and speedo are not working and also the car wouldn't start the other day and could smell no fules getting thru, need help as has been suggested can shaft sensor,alternator and  or ecu don't want to get ripped of helllllp

it's possible the plug on the back of the speedo head has dropped out that would explain all the symtoms as the immobiliser loops through the speedo and if you disconnect it the car won't run
