The more likely scenario is that our war against Muslims abroad is so distasteful that the resident Muslims need to take up arms here.
There was no internal terrorism before we went to war with Uncle Sam. When you are destroying their brothers abroad you have lost their hearts and minds here.

lynbrown - a major part of the problem in Afghanistan is the cultural gluf between the Afghan people and the west.
They basically live in a twelfth-century society, and it is collosssally arrogant of Western society to think it can simply march in and demand that they live as we do, and expect them to be grateful and non-resistant.
America tried this with a nation who want nothing more than a bowl of rice a day and political independence, and look what happened.
The purpose of history is to prevent us making the same mistakes over and over again.
Albert Einstein, who knew a lot about a lot said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Of course, he wasn't a politician, or a solider.

andy....good answer.....it always reminds me of Archbishop Tuttu's quote:
" When the missionaries came to South Africa, we had the land and their had the bible. They said let us all pray and when we opened our eyes, they had the land and we had the bible"
Life is a lottery, starting on where you were born.

The only reason we are there is to suck up to the school playground bully. We havnt had a leader strong enough to say no to the USA for a long time. The USA is arrogant and has far too much interference with other peoples cultures. My son in law is in Afgan at the mo before anyone starts and we are worried sick about him. How many guys need to be blown up by roadside bombs before the top brass say 'hold on we are doing something wrong here'. This war is never gonna be resolved until the Afgans start helping themselves from within. British troops will only be withdrawn if Uncle Sam says we can.
