Travel insurance

My son is in australia his u k travel isurance has run out, i tried to renew it for him but the insurers say i cant do this as he is not in the uk, does anyone know how he can renew this in oz.

Travel insurance has to be bought in the country of departure and I am not aware of a company that will extend cover once you have allowed it to run out. His best bet would be to see if he can get some Health and Public Liability cover whilst in Oz and then buy a standard Australia travel insurance to cover his trip back to the UK or wherever he is going next.
