This site should give you an idea of price, tasharidg, as you didn't mention what area of the county interested you nor how many millions you had ;-)

For some reason the above link is not highlighting, so it will have to be a copy & paste, I'm afraid.
Oh, the link is working...
You may find what you want from:

http://www.smallholder.co.uk/homes/

and see

http://www.countrysmallholding.com/

Both have links to local smallholding socities, have classifieds and an active forum for ideas and comments from like minded smallholders. Get copies of the magazines in your local library if you just want to view them or buy from a newsagent.

the local council may also be able to advise of suitable smallholdings coming to the market as they will be offered with agricultural tenancy rather then just being a 'big house'.

http://www.farminguk.com/farmsale/default.asp has a search facility that may help too.

Hope this helps..
Have you tried:

http://www.greenshifters.co.uk

They are a dedicated smallholding and houses with land property site with properties listed for both rent and sale. You can place a Wanted Ad on there and Owners/Landlords can contact you directly - it costs £5 - one off fee and your ad stays on as long as you need it to. Or you can just sign up for alerts whenever a new for rent or for sale property is listed on the site. It was the best site I could find - it's hard to find a smallholding but this at least gives you the advantage of finding out earlier about new properties than anyone who is just browsing the site.

http://www.rural-smallholdings.co.uk

is also a good place to look - they regularly feature smallholdings and houses with land for sale and rent from various sites.
