I have brought a Brother T104 Fax / telephone machine and I have this problem.
"It won't send or receive Faxes"
ADSL line, telephone works perfectly. Machine has been set up by sqad (which might be the problem;-)) the screen is set at F/T (fax and telephone), the telephone line is perfect and I can send and receive telephone messages.
I have taken it back to the shop, but it works there, bring it back home and it doesn't send or receive faxes.
Come on you AB/Technology genii.............you're on.
Thanks scotman.......I know that it doesn't send, because I ring up the person that I am trying to fax and they tell me that their phone changes over to fax, but nothing comes through. They then fax me back and nothing comes through.
Does it have one of those small displays that tell you what is going on as it operates? Usually display one-line messages such as 'dialing', 'sending' etc
Also, can you hear the beeping that fax machines make when they are establishing a link between themselves?
If you go to Start/ Settings/ Control Panel/ Phone and Modem Options, Have you got a dial-up modem listed and installed in a Com Port.
I understand that Faxes use a standard HSP56 ?? dial-up modem (like we used for the internet before we had broadband)
Just a thought!!
Have you got it set to print out a fax details sheet after transmission? Usually lists the number dialled, the time, whether successful etc.
You also mention in original post that it was 'set up by Sqad' What settings did you adjust?
Squad forgive me asking a couple of daft questios but which port have you got it connected to on the ADSL filter, the phone I hope? I had a problem recently also where the ADSL line was working OK but there was a fault on the telephone line
Another daft idea, but as you will have gahtered,I have had these sorts of problems myself, have you connected a pc to the phone line and see if the modem will connect, just to test the above?
There is a dual telephone socket connection, one goes straight to the router and hence PC and the other socket outlet goes separately via a filter to the Tel/Fax machine.
Hence the PC and it's ports do not come into play, but thanks for the thoughts.
