Am I selfish?

I will be turning 33 in a couple of weeks and that is when a lot of women would start to think about their biological clock ticking away. I've always loved the idea of having a couple of kids, fab husband, glittering career and plenty of time on my hands. Trouble is... life is not really like that. When I take time to contemplate the sacrifices I would have to make to bring children into this world, I suddenly decide that maybe I'm not that maternal afterall. I don't know if I will regret it in years to come, but for now I don't know if I want to ever be a mum. I know my own mother will be disappointed, as I am her only hope at having grandchildren. People will probably think I'm a cold-hearted b*tch, but I love my freedom and I am just not ready to wave it goodbye.

Thanks for that, Craft. I daresay that if I ever did have a child, I would love him or her unconditionally. I no longer enjoy nightclubbing, and infinitely prefer a nice meal out, or a night in with a hot bath and a bottle of wine. Maybe I'm going though a very slow transissional phase, eh?

How many have you scored so far ?

Seriously, we all have dreams when we're young, and we all end up with compromises. No one else can make up your mind for you, especially your mother sp beware of her desire for grandchildren.

And you certainly don't come across as a cold-hearted b*tch.

As regarding future regrets about remaining childless, say you had several children now, you might end up regretting that in the future. We all have to live with our life's choices, and while the grass seems greener on the other side, it usually isn't.

Happy Birthday for a fortnight's time. (how I envy you your youth - I'm over twice your age LOL)
