After trying several compatible cartridges for my Epson Stylus SX200 printer, I have returned to using genuine Epson cartridges. I can get them from 'justinkandpaper' for £7.49 each or £28.99 for a set of four. By installing Ink Save I can save up to 75% of the ink but I have adjusted mine to 50% for black and white and 0% for colour photogaphs. So that can mean that the cost of black cartridges is reduced to £3.75. I don't print colour photographs very often.
While some swear by original cartridges for their printer, this guy is selling a set of 4 SX400 cartridges for £3.86, which represents a saving of over £100 per 4 cartridge sets.
Given that the printer costs no where near that amount – it’s a no brainer as to whether to buy original or compatible cartridges.
