i changed my childrens drinks to cows milk at age 1.
I only use the night time milks when we are away from home and have no access to a fridge as they seem to be packed full of sugar (they even smell like condensed milk)
as long as he is eating healthy foods then there really isnt any reason to give him the extra vitimins in the milk.
How much milk is he having? If he is having more than one bottle then you may have to slowly wean him on to just cows milk. As Redcrx says, if he is eating a balanced diet then he doesn't need the extra vitamins.

do you still give him a bottle at bedtime?i've read they shouldn't have bottles at this age but he won't drink his milk from his everyday cup at night time?
baby crx still gets her bedtime milk in a bottle she wont use a cup for it at all, only water.

my son stopped using bottles at about 2.
when ever you feel ready !!!!!!!!!!
My 18 month old still drinks formula because she is allergic to milk, I make cereal with it and she still drinks out of a bottle at bed time, she only has 11 ounces a day - as the others have said if he's getting a balanced diet he should be fine on normal cows milk now, he can have it out of a bottle if thats what he likes - how many teenagers do you hear of drinking a bottle of milk at night? He'll give it up when he's ready!
I started giving my daughter cows milk at almost 11 months. I began making up bottles half and half so her tummy got used to it. When you say 'because of all the extra vitmins etc they say he needs'- who says he needs them? The formula companies. I hate that there's so much out there to make us feel guilty about what we are giving our children.
toatlly agree with zzxxee.

every baby is different. i was advised to take my wee one off cows milk at 10 months as she has always been quite a constipated baby and all the added extra iron in formula wasn't helping. stopped the bottle at 10 months and has had a cup in the morning and one at night

it took a few days to get her off the bottle. just changed her cups till she found one that worked. got the nuby cup and used that for a few nights as it still had a silicon lid. after the few days she drank milk from any cup and forgot all about the bottle

my sister in laws wee one is still on formula as she just doesn't like milk

thanks for all your replies,as you can probably tell this is my first one and the adverts do make you feel that you need to buy this to give them the right nutrients etc!!he eats well and loves veg and fruit so i think ill now just use cow milk when his formula has run out.he happily has cows milk or formula so shouldn't have a problem just using the cows milk.thanks again, nice to get honest replies from real mums!
