I have assembled a new computer (AS Rock motherboard) and installed XP. All runs fine except for one problem when restarting, ie installing new software or if the computer is shut down, windows wont restart. When I switch on the power unit it works ok however I have to manually disconnect and then reconnect the mains lead and power up again before windows boots up successfully. Has anyone any idea whats wrong?

Find out if there are any newer APM (Advanced Power management) drivers for your motherboard. Then check the BIOS to ensure that it is configured correctly for Windows to control power. Then check if you have the latest video drivers for your video card (somehow these cause ALL manner of problems related or not to video display)....
