I have now typed in the "chkdsk /f" and it works in the run mode. It is now coming up the message "Cannot lock current drive. Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts. It is waiting for a yes or no, what should I do?
You need to say "yes" then reboot your machine. The chkdsk will run when you next boot it.
It just means that a file is in use by your laptop and so the chkdsk program cannot run.
