Well I did actually run the file cleanup before I read about not running it. It cleared off a load of old files and showed chkdsk fragments under these files. Although I still get the message under the disk optimization run on Norton, if I use the run function and type in chkdsk the corrupt files seem to have gone.

I have a separate hard drive anyway, so will back up everytime I do anything. Also am signing out of everything just in case it crashes.

Which are the best desktops for everyday use. I am not one with lots of files, but do use my computer daily for playing cards online and internet browsing. I hear HP are the best ones, although there are packard bell etc. Also, what do people think of these space saving computers that have the processor built into the screen.

Thanks for all your help people, let us hope I can last a bit longer with the laptop until I can get to the shops once the snow has cleared.
