In my relationship (7years) I have always been the one who takes responsibility for keeping things running. I also sometimes feel that I wear the trousers in the relationship as he can be lazy and so I have to 'take charge'. However yesterday while having an argument with my husband he mentioned that a womens 'place' should always be below a man specialy if he is a nice bloke.

Now what can I do when he says that? How can I just be below him? Why because I am a women? Does anyone think this is right or am I making this worse then it is?

on top of paying her everton? no wonder you're so argumentative for the sake of it.
Oooh a bit uncalled for Tambo, if it weren't for the occaisonal row the site would be empty.
well that's better video everton than flooding the site with population ratios. If you were a true muslim you wouldn't be allowed to listen, nay enjoy, such music.
I have just been to Portugal and know what you mean about men thinking they are superior to women - even in this day and age - but don't make things uncomfortable between you over a statement made in the heat of the moment, probably. When things have calmed down, make some plans about who does what. Of course if there is more wrong between you than this comment, you will need to think more seriously about what you need to do.
I have always treated Women as equals and that is the way it should be
Glad to hear it Redman or I would have to get my dander up again today!
I would hate to see you with a dander Paross. ! lol. Me having a dander is fine ;-))
That was the trouble with my husbands,,,,,,,,,,they always came first.....

aaahhhh men.....treat him like a wild animal - feed him tit bits till he's relies on you then - a good kick where it hurts.
Oh you are rude Redman!! LOL Mention the word UP or CHANDELIER and your mind is 'one track'. Be serious!

Paross - thanks, I have strong viwes when it comes to womens rights, the worse thing is that he meant it. I came from a family where I started cleaning the house ar 8yrs old cooking for 8 people byt 11years and ironing. Playing? didnt exist, my brothers would but not me and my sister. I wasent allowed to have a bike because they are for boys my father said and my place was in the kitchen with my mum. Today thank God my paretns realise things shouldnt of been that way as we were living here and London and should of moved with the times and I thought my husband truly beleived that like I did. I promised I would never marry a man who thought anything like that but here I am. Maybe it was said in the heat of the moment, I guess that it something I will have to sort out tonight.

Thanks guys
you need to sit him down calmly a tell him straight...you are equal...that is what he agreed when you married...you will not have him try to dominate you and just spell it out for him...he may have just been using it in anger...but make it clear to him it does not stand and never will
A man and woman should be equal. No-one should be below or above the other...that's when the problems start.
