Hey,

My daughter has recently decided that she's going to go 'emo' and to be honest, I can't see why. Sure, I'm a bit eccentric at times and yes I embarrass her but isn't that what all Mum's do?

I also didn't know that they slit their wrists. I was wondering about the health risks (other than the obvious ones and scaring etc.) and most of all:

WHY THE HECK IS SHE DOING THIS?!

If you could give any advice on hectic pre-teens it would be much appreciated, :)

not all emos cut their wrists, being emo is more about the clothes and music so dont be too worried
Welcome to teenagehood, its that time when all you can do is grin and bear it and lie through your teeth "yes dear you do look lovely" whatever freaky fashion they come through the door with,AND REMEMBER they are rebelling so if you like their music, dress sense lingo KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT because if their parents like something that they do,believe me that trend will not even last till the end of the day, so if you hate it say you like it and you wont have to live with it for long!lol.
Thought she wanted to be that stuffed purple doll, maybe.....
I must be getting old. What the hell is an emo???
This should explain more to everyone that wants to know

Jan, I have no idea except that they listen to bad, no-tune music and (appartantly, from what I can see on my daughters wrists) slit their wrists.
Being emo is cool
