men and temptations of the flesh

Tiger Woods, John Terry, Vernon Kay...and those are just a few of the famous ones. Do you think Rod Stewart had a point a few years ago when he said (something like) men are not made to be monogomous?

Now that women no longer need to be so coy about how many sexual partners they have had I think you will find women are just as likely to have affairs as men.
And lets face it, all the men you mention above have probably been married when having flings, but the women they had flings with were just as happy to carry on, even though they knew the men were married (and some of the women may have been married while having the affairs themselves).
It takes two to tango !

Rod Stewart thinks monogamy is a piece of wood, don't recall the song though..
One of the lads told us this story about George Best, his room mate entered the bedroom to find Bestie lying on the bed with a naked Miss World contestant, bottles of empty champagne scattrered about and pound notes littering the whole room, his mate looked at him and said "blood ell George, where did it all go wrong?"

Jackintheboxes joke is not as stupid as it looks.
Men have an unlimited amount of sperm. The best way they can guarantee passing their genes on is by impregnating everyone and everything possible, at every opportunity.
Women have got a limited number of eggs, so it doesn't make reproductive sense to waste any of them by randomly getting impregnated by anyone. They have to be more choosy about their mate so as to avoid wasting any of the precious eggs on a dud male.
So there is some truth in a statement like 'men are not made to be monogamous'. I'm not excusing those peoples behaviour though. After all we've also developed a brain and a sense of morality which can override such evolutionary programming if we want it to.
