I have been trying to install Windows 7 using Custom Installion. Current O S is Windows 7 for testing purposes Build 7227. I boot up my lap top, insert Wins 7 Home Premium disk and follow the directions for a clesn install. The installatiion runs the course until very near the end when I get a message "Installation Cancelled" - Windows could not update the Registery data in the installion. It then rolls back to Windows Ultimate original settings. Have I missed out a required procedure? or do I need to format Drive C and install from the CD Boot up? I have used windows-easy-transfer for my settings etc. Anyone able to give me some advice before I do the blitz. Thanks for any advice.

"Have I missed out a required procedure?"
Yes. Beta and RCs cannot be upgraded and must be removed and replaced. As Ircman says, you need to delete, re-create, and format the partition and perform a clean install.

I had a similar situation on a friends laptop, I ended up formatting Drive C, once this was done it installed OK from the master Windows 7 Home Premium disk.

Thanks Rojash and Ircman for the information. I will now proceed with the format.
