The recommended allowance is 10% + 2 m.p.h. and most UK police forces claim to follow this. I have heard many stories of people being caught at 31 m.p.h. etc., but have never met the actual person concerned.
Not picking bones...but 1 suggests +4 and another +3 mph.....it's actually 10% and 3mph.
The reason isn't that the Cops are being nice, it's to allow for unconfigured speedo's.....Police cars speedo's are configured therefore can follow you, and their speed can be given as evidence in a law court.
(and yes the Police don't need photographic proof)
