No. It isn't racist to describe a person as black, and there is nothing illegal about using the word black in the name of an organisation .

In all of the schools and nurseries I've been on placement in I've never heard one sing Baa Baa Multi-coloured Sheep, it's always been Baa Baa Black Sheep. Maybe I just live in a more sensible area though! What's wrong with the little piggies song anyway, not heard about that one before? Also, regarding the Muslims only morning at the swimming pool there are often ladies only sessions as well but no one moans about these being sexist, there is obviously a demand for these sessions and swimming pool managers are using business sense to provide them.
Fair comment molly, it tends not to be people who are involved who take offence, it's the nimbies who think we all might offend - doh! Bring back the good old fashioned words like manhole cover and dustmen and chairman - we all know that they apply to women, I've been Madam Chairman in my time and it sounded perfectly OK to me!

Just to let you know the REAL story about Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep:
It was used by a charity called PACT (Parents and Children Together). The word Black was not exchanged for any racially motivated reasons, but to teach children different colours. This is a technique that is used in schools and other education establishments to enhance vocabulary.
Birmingham City Council did suggest that the nursery rhyme be banned but this was overturned 10 years ago after complaints by black parents.
The word blackboard is also not banned. It is no longer in common use as you do not see many blackboards in schools anymore - they have been replaced by whiteboards and interactive boards. Calling these black boards would not be the most sensible idea!

i don't think the name matters. However you can't exclude a section of the community because of race or colour (this is what the BNP is going through at the moment) So while you could call your club "the exclusively white mans drinking club for only white men" you would most likely still have to admit women and non-whites. Thus white people can win the mobos
At least that is my reading of the situation
