samsung LCD tv problem

it turns itslef off when it pleases and turns itself back on when it would like to, no i havent got sleep mode on and no its not the control sending it signals. any ideas??? we had the tv repairman come round and he just said it might just need a software upgrade and when he did that and left, 30 mins later it turned off agai. help??

Many electronic devices have a safety cut out, which switches the device off if the circuitry starts to overheat. Then, when a safe temperature is achieved, the device will turn itself on again. If any air vents on your set are obstructed, that might be exactly what's happening.

What Buenchico describes is very feasible and does happen.
I think your TV repair man is waffling as it could also have developed a fault.
However, look in the Menu facility and check the settings of your sleep mode and if it is 'ON' then switch it off and see what happens as the Sleep mode has different time settings.
