...and another thing, it's morality that always leads the way. When laws are found to be out of step with current thinking about what's right and wrong, it's the law that gets changed, not the other way around. For examples of this see....

Slavery, forming a workers union, bear baiting, homosexuality, and hopefully coming soon to this list 'allowing your silly, anachronistic, self-imposed rules to unfairly impinge on other peoples lives'.

I've said just about all I want to on this subject, so I'd just like to wish everyone a Happy Easter - now there's an irony.

I have to admit Ludwig you have raised valid points against not criticizing those who take actions backed by law. The new General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) had a consultation period when considering its Standards and two thirds of those who responded said they wanted the retention of the clause concerning religious beliefs and I have no reason to believe that proportionately, their members are greatly more religious than society in general.

There are two basic kinds of laws, the laws inherent in the nature of reality and the laws written and enforced by people. The laws written and enforced by people are intended (or at least should be) to protect and defend rational people from those who have not learned or refuse to conform to the laws of nature.

The laws that govern reality are consistent, unchanging, reliable, predictable, non-contradictory, unyielding, immutable and real. The laws we make up are only good to the extent that they conform to the laws of nature. Any law that is not based on and derived from the laws of reality is arbitrary and subjective and will be found in the long run to be incomprehensible, unenforceable, disruptive and destructive to the lives of the rational people it was intended to protect and defend from the irrational and unjust amongst us.

Ankou, if you can lift yourself above silly expressions like fist-waving and waggling, please explain the rest of your post and what it has got to do with 'conscience' which is what we are discussing here.
