constantly play 'Galvanise' by the Chemical Brothers? Considering their adhered to playlist and the fact they dont often play non current music (in the datyime) I find it odd that they play a record thats a few years old with alarming regularity.

It must get played every few weeks on prime time shows.

Unfortunately Radio 1's playlists in the daytime are shocking nowadays. I had some time off recently to do some D.I.Y and had the radio on and i was amazed at just how many records were played over and over throughout the day instead of playing something new or different. I know what you mean about Galvanise and it is a good tune but how about something else from time to time! Another tune that they seem to like to keep playing despite it being awful in my opinion is The Bodyrockers - "I like the way you move" I tend to listen to Radio 2 in the daytime now and only Radio 1 either very early or in the evenings. Its just not as good as it once was i think.
George Ergatoudis, Head Of Music at Radio One and responsible for the station's playlist and music policy is the father in law of Tom Rolands who is one part of the Chemical Brothers Duo.

Actually I made that up but it wouldn't surprise me.
Each dj is allowed to pick one or two of there favorite songs and play them on there shows so it might be one of there favs

As for the same songs being played many times during the day its becauce if you are a long time listener (all day) you will be hitting the 2 peek times (breakfast show and drive time show) thats when the play lists are in full use
