Hubby and I are thinking about a couple of weeks either in Turkey or North Cyprus in June. Have been to south Cyprus and Olu Deniz before but would like something new.
We like it reasonably quiet (no clubs required), pref B&B or SC (definitely no hotel entertainment) and must be very near (walkable) to a nice beach but with a few restaurants and off-license or supermarket.
Does anyone have any recommendations. Many thanks for any responses

We got a lovely quiet villa about 10 miles west of Kyrenia - but this was 9 years ago and the Turks are ripping up that coastline like there's no tomorrow, so the whole area might be villa'd up by now. Plus, you can't get onto much of the coastline because of military bases and casino resorts.....sorry to be negative but I think the Turks are spoiling much of the North. There were some less developed places out on the 'panhandle' to the east, but whether this is still so tranquil I couldn't say.
North cyprus sin't very big. Plus it'll probably be the same the other way round, but i know you can't take hire cars from the south to the north. This may mean that there aren't that many places to go to.
We went to Famagusta (Guzimaguza) which was ok but we also stayed just outside Kyrenia about 4 years ago and stayed at the Ship Inn which was a lovely hotel - the earlier answer is right about it being difficult to get 'beach', if you go a few miles inland from Kyrenia you get Bellapais which is up a mountain with superb views of Kyrenia, it is fairly quiet and the views are spectacular with the abbey as a backdrop and quite a few lovely restaurants - if we go again this is where we'll be heading.
Kalkan in turkey is a lovely fishing village...never found it to busy....stayed in a small hotel called hotel nur....nice.
Would be more inclined to go to Turkey - a larger area so more choice and much easier to get to

Thanks for your replies they have all been helpful.
Looks like we would be better off looking at Turkey then. I will google Kalkan and see what it looks like.

If anyone has any further ideas I would be very grateful
Just got back from a great holiday in Side, Turkey and it sounds just what you are looking for.
Only 45mins from the airport AYT and cheap, except for the beer which was £2-50 for a bottle, even in the supermarket so drank more wine which was better at £3-00 a full bottle.
