Now, I know the man is irreplaceable but do you know of a DJ today who plays new and upcoming bands with the same enthusiasm as him? I'd be interested to know as the EP my daughter and her band have cut deserves air time..

I agree Bednobs, the closest thing to John Peel has got to be Zane Lowe. He is amazing live as well, certainly knows how to work the decks and rock the place!

zane lowe IS really good, but i would say he definately fits the niche that radio 1 carved out for him. if you want things that are a bit more 'out there' then check out stuart maconie on bbc radio 6 music (friday/sat midnight till 1am) and sundays 6pm - 8pm. he is also on radio 2 radcliffe and maconie - mon, tue, wed 8pm - 10pm but i have not listened to the radio 2 shows so cant comment, other that to say hes great (very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about all sorts) on radio 6, so guessing he will be good on radio 2 too.
