Thanks ChuckFickens... More info. I have had a go at building 2 desktop computors. I am sure all components are in the correct place Hard Drive (Weston Digital) CD/DVD (Samsung) Motherboard ASRock (P4i65GV using an Intel 4 processor. I have and want to load Windows XP (Home Edition)
Having switched on PC gone into BIOS. The screen then shows "Error loading operating system" Regards Bill

Is it a SATA hard drive?

Windows doesn't include drivers for SATA controlers on most of the install disks, you have to create a custom windows CD with the SATA drivers on it.
