Has religion brainwashed us all?

A recent thread in News dealt with a woman in Italy being fined for wearing a burqa in a public place. Her husband's response was that he would henceforth be obliged to confine her to their home to ensure that no other man saw her face. Whilst many people on that thread supported her 'choice' to shroud herself from the rest of humanity, no one complained at the injustice of her enforced confinement. Are we really so indoctrinated into respecting religion that we do so even when it means accepting, and consequently condoning, a man's apparent 'right' to treat his wife so appallingly?

Who is this woman?

I don't won't defend anyone's right to abuse their partner for any reason.
I believe that a parent has the right to choose the correct treatment for their child, even though I myself don't agree with those choices.
I dislike the burkha intensely, I don't know how many times or how many different ways I can think of to make you understand that.
HOWEVER, many Muslim women wear the burkha out of choice, you mightn't understand it, and I certainly don't like it, but it is a fact.
When a woman says she wears it out of choice, you say she's been brainwashed, nice little loophole for ya.
I'm sure the women of Islam don't need you tell them how to live their lives, and I dare say your input on such a subject is as welcome as theirs would be to you.
You strike me as old fashioned 1990s style feminists, berating women who said they wanted to stay at home after having children, labelling them traditional.
I'll give you both the last word, cos you like it, cast your aspersions and goodnight.

Thanks Everton. Question answered at least from you. Yes, religion has you brainwashed.
Yes it does Naomi- So stay away from it and tell your generations to come to do the same. I wish you good luck.
Question Author
Certainly will Keyplus. What's that avatar you have there?
It looks like a ram rammed onto a stick:0(
Question Author
Well, it looks like a ram rammed on something. It certainly looks rather gruesome.
I think the avatar is a performing dog balancing on some strange device, looks like a pipe or similar.
Question Author
Ha ha! I doubt it. Come on Keyplus, what is it?
I spent last one month in Pakistan to see my father and other relatives. Its a photo I took in Pakistan outside my home. Its a Ram balancing on small wooden round blocks that are slipped slowly on the top of the other. This is an amusement for kids and living for the man and the ram.
Question Author
Really? Thanks Keyplus. A talented ram.
