When you pay to get a cctv drain survey go get dvd and written survey, how do you know they have actually done it and its not just any old drain film and they use the same dvd footage for everyone?
one would assume they might film with the camera a little out side before they put the camera in which shows the surrounding area then you know its your house, but if the footage starts in the pipe would'nt that be a bit odd?
because the survey should have a full sketch plan of drainage around the house, rwps, manoles etc, you should know where those are around your house so should tie up. Then the video would be all those drain runs and all runs will be titled on screen ie Manhole 1 to Manhole 2, Manhole 1 to SVP etc
well its a house we are going to buy and we know nothing about the drain layout to be honest and we are not DIY, building, house, people having rented for years so we wouldnt have a clue looking at the plan and thinking if it looks the same?
If possible, why not lift any manhole covers you can see on the property and flush the loo a few times. You should see the water flowing through. If there aren't any manholes where would they shove the camera?
I doubt the majority of house buyers have a camera survey on the drains.
your estate agent would be able to recommend a company or I could and know that they go out and DO CCTV the drains at the right house. And dodger if there are no obvious manholes, they have a mini camera to put down gullies or they have to cut into RWP's. Believe me what..the you would be able to see from the layout of the house without drains put on it that is the house in question. If you dont quite agree after survey you can always go to house and compare it to sketch.
